Peter and the Wolf

During the COVID-19 Lockdown of 2020, Timothy Henty was invited by the London Mozart Players to produce a new recording ‘in isolation’ of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, and to create a film to accompany it.

Working alongside colleague Benjamin Pope, Timothy produced the new recording and created the film using members of the LMP and their families as the cast.

Attending a film concert can prove to be a memorable, if not an unmissable experience. It allows an immersion of the senses to say the least, which is more engaging and exciting than ever.

So it was for the Harry Potter Film Concert Series, which returned to Rome at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in Concert, on the strength of the success fully sold out for the first two episodes.

Fifteen years after its release, the third film of the saga - directed by the award winning Oscar Alfonso Cuarón – responsible for very different but consistently high quality films  from Gravity to Rome – has been projectied on the big screen (over 12 meters) in HD for the  crowded Auditorium Parco della Musica.

Euphoric and visibly moved, Maestro Timothy Henty opened the concert by addressing the public in Italian and inviting them to actively participate, complete with spontaneous reactions and applause for his favourite moments and characters. As the lights went down, he then masterfully directed the Orchestra Italiana del Cinema: over 130 musicians between the Orchestra and Chorus, who performed John Williams’ magical score in synchrony with the entire Cuarón film and, above all, with the pathos of certain sequences that have become cult.

Between budding wizards and dark dementors, between hippogriffs, werewolves and malevolent rats, for two and a half hours the Auditorium was transformed into the legendary Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, reviving in the audience all the emotions of a saga that has captivated entire generations, and still does not cease to fascinate, especially when highlighted by a truly exceptional live soundtrack.

Timothy succeeds Margaret Hennessey-Brown in the role - a highly respected local musician who has directed choirs and taught at schools across the area. She became the society's Honorary Patron, and also spoke at the occasion.
