Teaching and Remote Learning

Timothy Henty has limited availability for online conducting tuition.

Timothy’s tuition focusses primarily on technique in a personalised, 1 to 1 setting, and would suit students and professional musicians who wish to expand their skill portfolio to include a greater understanding of gestural language.

The aim is to primarily build confidence in a person’s technical skill, in an enjoyable and stress free setting, and later how to apply those skills to repertoire.

Recent and current students include school music teachers with a desire to improve their ensemble coaching skills, amateur conductors who wish to improve their abilities, young pupils who want to find out more about conducting as a future possibility, professional instrumentalists who wish to add to their skill set, and professional young conductors looking for competition coaching.

As all lessons are individually designed according to need, please contact Timothy Henty using the contact page on this website to discuss availability and options.

I met Maestro Henty back in 2019, at one of his performances. He was kind enough to spend about one hour with me before the concert, talking about life and music.
When the pandemic happened, I started having online lessons with Tim, and I must say it was a great decision. What was then a hobby, turned into passion and, hopefully, a career.
Tim’s tuition provides one with a very clear technique as well as the knowledge on how to study scores and run efficient rehearsals. Within the first few lessons, Tim can refine one’s technique to the highest of standards as well as help develop one’s personal musical ideas.
I am now a student at the Norwegian Academy of Music and a member of Dirigentforum Junior, and none of this would have been possible without Tim’s support and help from the very start.

Maestro Henty is not only a great musician and teacher, but an astonishing person as well, to whom I am very grateful. There is no one that I would recommend more than Tim.

I have played for Tim in the London Repertoire Orchestra for a good while and he is both outstandingly good at conducting and remarkably nice with it. I have been conducting myself for a while and have been working with him on analysing and refining my basic technique during a series of remote meetings. This has been really helpful. Tim is perceptive, patient and gives a clear view of what I need to improve. He is encouraging without condescension and I leave each week with some clear practice targets. I am learning new stuff every week and I hope we can keep this going for a good while yet, lockdown or not.
